Stephen Parker AO

Stephen Parker AO is a Principal with HERG, an Emeritus Professor, University of Canberra and an Honorary Professorial Fellow, University of Melbourne.

After a career in universities as an academic and manager, including appointments as Dean, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor, he joined KPMG Australia as its Lead Education partner in February 2017 and then became Global Lead. He joined HERG in July 2021.

In 2014, Stephen received the Order of Australia for “distinguished services to tertiary education through administrative, academic and representational roles, and as a leader in the growth and development of the University of Canberra”.

Stephen is a regular writer, commentator and presenter on education generally, with a particular focus on how education and the education sectors need to change to meet the needs of individuals, society and the economy.

He holds degrees from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and the University of Wales. Stephen is a solicitor and barrister in several jurisdictions.
